Mandibular Implant-supported Overdenture as an Occlusion-guide for Maxillary Fixed Implant Prosthesis: A Clinical Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Unlike natural teeth, osseointegrated implants react bio mecha nically in a different fashion to occlusal load due to lack of the periodontal ligament. Hence, the dental implants may be more prone to occlusal overloading, which is often regarded as one of the potential causes for periimplant bone loss and failure of the implant/implant prosthesis. Stability of the intercuspal position and reduction of lateral forces are impor tant aspects when providing occlusal equilibration for implant supported prosthesis. Multiple missing teeth in maxillary and mandibular arches with disturbed occlusal plane due to longterm edentulous condition and overeruption of remaining teeth into the edentulous spaces is the challenging clinical situation. This article describes the management of a patient with multiple missing teeth in both the arches with mandibular implantsupported overdenture and maxillary implant supported fixed prosthesis. The sequence of the treatment planning is highlighted to manage the complex situation to achieve the best predictable occlusion.

Use of guide planes and implant supported bar overdentures: a case report.
A stable occlusal plane is achieved with the combination of two maxillary, implant-supported milled bars securing an overdenture and bilateral, mandibular-fixed partial dentures. Overdenture retention is enhanced with attachments. Guide planes assure proper alignment of the overdenture for easy patient insertion and improved prosthesis stability. A reliable technique for verifying the accuracy ...
متن کاملCase Report: Implant-Supported Removable Partial Denture In A Mandibular Kennedy CL II: A Clinical Report
Abstract The implant-supported removable partial dentures should be an alternative to conventional removable partial dentures and implant-supported fixed partial prostheses when the implant’s insertion is confined by bone height and thickness. Placing a single implant in the posterior region would modify the Kennedy Class II configuration to a Kennedy Class III and increase the stability a...
متن کاملStabilization of a computer-aided implant surgical guide using existing dental implants with conversion of an overdenture to a fixed prosthesis.
This clinical report describes a technique to stabilize a computer-aided dental implant surgical guide to existing implants. A patient requested conversion of her existing mandibular implant-assisted overdenture into a fixed complete denture. The surgical procedure was planned virtually, and the two existing dental implants were integrated into the surgical plan as a means to fixate the surgica...
متن کاملA systematic review and meta‐analysis of removable and fixed implant‐supported prostheses in edentulous jaws: post‐loading implant loss
OBJECTIVES The aim of this systematic review was to analyze post-loading implant loss for implant-supported prostheses in edentulous jaws, regarding a potential impact of implant location (maxilla vs. mandible), implant number per patient, type of prosthesis (removable vs. fixed), and type of attachment system (screw-retained, ball vs. bar vs. telescopic crown). MATERIAL AND METHODS A systema...
متن کاملDental implant treatment in a young woman after marginal mandibulectomy for treatment of mandibular gingival carcinoma: a case report
Dental implants play an important role in postoperative rehabilitation after surgical treatment of oral cancer through the provision of prosthetic tooth replacement. Two major implant prosthesis designs are available: fixed implant-supported prostheses and implant-supported overdentures. We herein report a case of a 16-year-old female patient who underwent alveolar ridge resection for treatment...
